I have stayed here on a couple of occasions: On each occasion I have had good service, and good food, although I do not enjoy the “rugby scrum” to obtain it from the buffet! It is a shame that the hotel is so shabby and tired. I think it could do with a good clean too.

Stayed twice at this hotel. Location is great. On the picadilly tube line so convenient to get to/from Heathrow. 2 min walk to Earls Court Station. Hotel is a bit old. Rooms starting 100 are in the basement. bathroom is clean but a bit mouldy. Basement rooms facing the street get noisy as you hear the conversation of people walking on the street above. Lydie at reception is fantastic & gave us a room on level 5 for our next stay when we mentioned the noise factor. Breakfast is simple – toast, coffee/tea, rolls, ham, cheese etc but is filling. Free internet but not reliable. Would stay there again.

Good value for money. Excellent situated, okay breakfast and free internet. A bit old, but cosy. (Denmark)

Exceptionally good value for London, decent sized double room, with bath as a single for Ј63, quiet location, efficient, reasonable breakfast, will stay again

A very good quality hotel for the money, a decent continental breakfast, comfortable bed and fairly quiet, recommended for a London visit

Barkston Gardens offers an excellent breakfast. Frendly staff when you get to know them. Location to shops & public transport is excellent. Would definately stay there again. Room, including the bathroom, could do with an update.

Single room was very small. No air-con so room was sweltering on a hot weekend in London

Great location tube stop only around the corner. M&S opposite the hotel. The room was small, we were on the 6th floor and the outside wall was slopping in towards us, which meant that the bath/shower also slopped in so you were slanting your head out of the shower not to hit your head off it and im 5ft could be because we were near the roof! the window frames were rotten. Breafast was average, cereal, roll/croissant/concentrated juice/tea/coffee.But it was clean, yeah the hotel was a bit tired looking but for a short stay it was fine. i would reccommend it.

Good value for a 3 star. Especially enjoyed the breakfast and the free internet usage in the bar. The use of hot water in the bath has to be learnt.( but not from the front desks who do not have any idea and could not help when the maintenace people have gone home). The double rooms in the basement were of good sizes. Good location near the tube station and pubs.

Stayed Feb 08. I was given a double room for my single booking. Rooms were spacious with good facilities. Decor and furnishings looked tired and dated. Bed comfortable and linen & towels clean and in good condition. Bathrooms dirty looking in parts (tile grouting, fittings), due to age mainly. This hotel needs a refurbishment, especially upstairs. Then if it did the price would undoubtly rise. Good value and central location. Head waiter in dining room was excellent. Breakfast good, but fresh orange tasted watered down.
